Meet the Owner Behind Tru Fiber Carpet Cleaning

One Owner, Every Job, Every Time
From My First Cleaning Job to My Own Company

My Name Is Michael, and I've Been Doing This Since I Was 19

My first job out of the gate was with Stanley Steemer at 19. I spent two years cleaning carpets, and I liked it more than I expected, every day was a different house, a different part of the city, different people. I left chasing better money and spent years in automotive manufacturing, building cars and parts for BMW, Volvo, and ZF. The pay was there, but I was staring at the inside of the same building every day, and I missed the work I’d walked away from.

Getting older and burnt out on the factory floor is what finally pushed me. I knew two things: I wanted to be cleaning again, and I didn’t want to do it for someone else, I wanted to own the whole thing. So I saved up, took a small personal loan, bought my own equipment, got trained, and started Tru Fiber. My girlfriend at the time (now my wife) jumped in with me, answering the phone and scheduling, and helping on jobs. We got married in 2024, and we’ve built this thing together from day one.

I’m 40, born and raised in Bessemer City, just outside Charlotte, and I’ve been around this city my whole life. Five years in this trade, and I still get the same thing out of it I did at 19, I like solving a problem someone thought couldn’t be fixed. Handing back a carpet or piece of furniture they’d already given up on. That’s the part I do it for.

Honest Work Is Getting Hard to Find

Why My Name Is on the Business

I picked the name Tru Fiber on purpose. “Fiber” is for the carpet, and “Tru” is because being honest is the whole point. It’s getting hard to find, and it’s what I built this on. When you hire me, you’re not getting a crew that rotates through, or an employee getting paid by the hour to move fast and hit the next job. You’re getting the person who took out the loan, bought the equipment, got the training, and put his own name and reputation on the line. If something gets damaged, it’s my insurance and my bank account that cover it, not a company you’ll never reach again.

That’s why I don’t rush. I might charge a little more than the next guy, but it’s for a clean that’s actually thorough. The kind where I care about the corners, the edges, and the spots someone else would skip. Twenty years of automotive manufacturing for companies like BMW and ZF drilled precision and attention to detail into me, and I bring that same standard into your home. I run a lean, careful process with quality equipment and solutions because I want to do it right, not because someone is making me.

What I really want is for you to feel good about the whole thing. A friendly, easy experience start to finish, a clean that impresses you, and the relief of finally crossing something off your list you had been putting off. When I pull out of your driveway, I want your home left better than I found it, and I want you glad you called me instead of anyone else.
